Nelly A. Young, age 81, of Ames, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at her home in Ames.
Graveside services for Nelly will be held in the Ames Municipal Cemetery at a later date. Condolences may be expressed online at www.amesmonument.com.
Born July 17, 1938, in Lima, Peru, Nelly Alejandrina Young was the daughter of Isaac and Luz (Villanueva) Encalada.
Nelly taught art and home economics in Lima, Peru, and in 1999 moved to the United States to make her home. It was there that she met and, on September 4, 1999, married Richard G. Young.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; two sons, Aldo Encalada Villanueva and Piero Encalada Villanueva, both of Lima, Peru; two grandchildren; and a sister, Gloria Van de Weterling of Ames.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jamie Encalada Villanueva; and her parents.
Ames Monument & Cremation Center has been entrusted with the care of Nelly and her family.
