Freddie Mae (Jackson) Morris, age 65, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

A Celebration of Freddie's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at Union Park Baptist Church, 821 Arthur Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50316.

Born October 28, 1954, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Freddie Mae Morris was the daughter of Freddy M. and Bernice (Bowman) Jackson, Sr. She grew up and attended Des Moines Technical High School in Des Moines. On March 7, 1978, Freddie was united in marriage to Darrell Melvin Morris, Sr. The couple made their home in Des Moines and was blessed with four children: Terence, Lakeisha, and Darrell, Jr., and Angela.

Freddie loved music and dancing, target shooting, and cooking. She will be remembered for her love of sweets, especially candy bars. Her greatest joy was found in the company of her family.

Survivors include her husband, Darrell Morris, Sr. of Marshalltown; two children, Lakeisha Briggs of Grandview, MO, Darrell (Krystal) Morris, Jr. of Wesley Chapel, FL; a step-son, Derrick Morris of Des Moines; eight grandchildren, Terence Jackson, Jr., Teausha Jackson, KaMariya Jackson, Ky'Reasha Briggs, Darrell Morris III, Alyviah Morris, Sian Morris, and Esaias Morris; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Freddie Jackson, Jr. of Des Moines; two sisters, Bonnie Bennett, and Doris Smith, both of Texas; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Morris; a son, Terence Jackson, Sr.; a grandson, Josiah Morris; and her parents.

Ames Monument & Cremation Center has been entrusted with the care of Freddie and her family.
