Donald Harry Wiesel
May 15, 1931 - November 19, 2019

Donald Harry Wiesel, 88, of Burlington, IA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 19, 2019 at Sunnybrook Assisted Living.
Born May 15, 1931 in Burlington, IA, he was the son of Harry and Hazel (Schwarz) Wiesel. On September 15, 1948, he married Ruth L. Brockway in Kahoka, MO.
He attended Burlington High School, graduating in 1948. He worked at Dahlin Brothers and Davis Furniture Co. in Burlington for 4 years, then began a 4-year State of Iowa Machinist Trade at Murry Iron Works. In 1957 he began employment at Champion Spark Plug plant as a machinist, later advancing to tool maker. In May of 1976, he and his wife purchased a retail building and together started two businesses of "10-4" Communications/Advanced Cellular and Ruth's Plaster Arts. They retired in 2000.
In 1948 he was the city's (126 1/2 lb.) Golden Gloves Champion. He was an avid golfer and in younger years carried a 1-6 handicap.
He and his wife enjoyed their winter visits in Mesa, AZ for many years. They taught and loved ballroom dancing (and square dancing/square dance calling in earlier years). He enjoyed the Bible Tape Ministry from Berachah Church in Houston, TX through membership with the Hawkeye Church in Burlington. He especially enjoyed his time with family.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Gary D. (Jeanne) Wiesel of Granger, IN; three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one grandson.
The memorial service for Mr. Wiesel will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 7th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Randy Gearhart officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.

"O how sad. I was just telling the wife. As I was growing up. I growed up dancing around them. All over Burlington. Very good dancers. He love to watch me dance. Him and his wife two wonderful people. I got my first CB Raido from mih. On Mount Pleasant Street. He will truly be missed. Prayers for his family. "
