Joan G Smith
November 1, 1942 - November 7, 2019

JOANG. SMITH, age 77 of Whiting, passed away on Thursday November 7, in Toms River. Born in Burlington, NJ, Joan spent most of her life on the water in Forked River.
Joan was a Certified Recreation Specialist, working as the Activities Director in several Long Term Care Facilities in Ocean County for over 20 years. She also worked on the emergency hotline CONTACT of Ocean and Monmouth Counties.
Joan loved boating on the Barnegat Bay from the time she was 12 years old; she also enjoyed her time as volunteer, but especially cherished spending time with her beloved family. She was a sports fan, the Giants football, basketball and soccer; her favorite teams were always the ones her grandchildren played for.She also enjoyed driving her Corvette and the many trips she, her husband and her family took whether it was in their motor home or on a cruise ship.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, David C.; her son David M. Mills and his wife Beverly; her daughter Katie and her husband Tim; six grandchildren, Clark, William, Elisabeth, Patrick, Conner, and TJ; and her brother, William Gale Jr.
Relatives and Friends are invited to visit from 2:00- 4:00pm and 7:00- 9:00pm on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Lacey Memorial Home 1022 Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ 08731
