Joy A. McVeigh
August 22, 1956 - September 30, 2019

Joy A. McVeigh, age 63, of Little Egg Harbor died on Monday, September 30 at home. Born in Clifton, she lived there until moving to Manahawkin in 2002, and settled in Little Egg Harbor in 2009.
A graduate of Clifton High School Class of 1974, Joy was an actress and model, and appeared in the films The Prowler and The Children. She was a trained singer, having attended the Manhattan School of Music, and worked for many years as a cantor at St. Philip the Apostle Church, Clifton. She later worked as pet sitter.
She is survived by her son, Paul McVeigh and his fiance, Sydney Dahl of Denville; her sister, Gail Sheffield and her husband David; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Cremation was private under the direction of Lacey Memorial Home, 1022 Lacey Road, Forked River. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 12-4pm at Living Waters Church, Parsippany.

"OMG - Ive known Joy since the 1970s - shared a home while going to Rutgers..she also sang in the group The JITTERZ...the sweetest person youll ever meet...her love for animals was huge, always was taking care of afew dogs at once, and loved them all...we did a few modeling jobs together in NYC NJ...we lost contact for awhile, but become friends again thru FaceBook, and was always in contact with each other all the time...so very sad to hear about her passing. RIP my dear Ol friend."

"Joy was a wonderful person. Her FB posts about animals were priceless and always put a smile on my face. I first met her our 9th grade year at Woodrow Wilson in Clifton. She was a cheerleader. It was nice to connect with her on FB and we had numerous nice conversations. She will be missed by many and me."

"My deepest Condolances to Paul, family and friends. I am so sorry to hear about Joys passing. I was best friends with Joys sister Gail when I was young. I actually became much closer to Joy with in the last 10 years or so. Joy contacted me on the computer and we just started talking like no time had pasted from the last time we talked. Which was a long time ago. She was a special person and I will miss her. RIP Joy I know you are in heaven. Love ya Joy. God Bless."
