John Sieren
July 17, 1939 - December 2, 2019

SIGOURNEY-John Sieren, age 80, of Sigourney, died Monday, December 2, 2019, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington.
John was born July 17, 1939, in Sigourney, Iowa, the son of August and Clara (Becker) Sieren. He graduated form Sigourney High School in 1957 and was offered a scholarship to play football at Iowa State University. John was united in marriage to Joan Bollinger at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney in 1961. He worked for Iowa Culvert Builders and did carpentry work. John was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, high school and college athletics, and was knowledgeable about many things.
John is survived by his wife Joan of Sigourney; 3 children: Shelly Williams of Kansas City, KS; Steven (Darla) Sieren of Liberty, MO; Jodi (Tommy) Connolly of Iowa City; 7 grandchildren; and a sister Margaret Bender of Sigourney. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers: Kenneth and Francis.


Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, with Fr. Robert Lathrop officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

A memorial fund has been established for Dialysis Caregivers at Washington County Hospital. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for John and his family. Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
