Jimmy Gene "Jim" Rockwell
November 4, 1934 - December 15, 2019

Jimmy G. "Jim" Rockwell, 85, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Sunday morning, December 15, 2019, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Sutton Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.

Jimmy Gene Rockwell was born on November 4, 1934 in Jackson County, Iowa, to Glenn and Geraldine (Parmer) Rockwell. He was educated in Maquoketa schools and served his country in the U.S. Army earning an honorable discharge. He married Nancy Lee Bock on January 18, 1975 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She preceded him in death on November 1, 2015.

Jim had farmed, worked at Clinton Engines and for Bob Head as an auto mechanic. He also was the caretaker at Sutton Cemetery in Maquoketa where he mowed the cemetery and did private mowing for other area people as well.

Jim had served on the Sutton Cemetery Board at one time. He enjoyed motorcycles and he and Nancy traveled all over the United States. He loved his cats, watching old western shows, and tinkering around the house.

Those left to honor his memory include a brother, Don (Wanda) Rockwell of Maquoketa, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy, brother Carlyle, sister Reta Blizek, and nieces Lynn Rockwell, Linda Derganz and Sharon Derganz.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Jimmy G. "Jim" Rockwell memorial fund has been established.

"For many years my dear friend Jim would meet at McDonalds and eat and chat. I would stop out to his farm stead and see his many cats. He was a good friend,indeed! May he Rest In Peace!"
