Frances Jontz, 96, of Baxter, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Nelson Manor in Newton, Iowa. Visitation will be held at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care (107 North Main St.) in Baxter on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the E. Free Church (108 Southeast Ave) in Baxter. A private family burial will be held in Restland Cemetery in Baxter, Iowa.
Frances was born on May 24, 1923 in Newton, Iowa to Shadrach and Viola (Rubar) Reynolds. She grew up in Newton and attended school in Newton. On June 29, 1940, she married the love of her life Max Jontz. The couple moved to Max's family farm and began farming in 1941. Together they raised 3 children. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Frances loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a terrific cook and there was always homemade cookies or pie for anyone who stopped by to visit. Homemade noodles were her specialty and her families favorite. Frances always had a large garden and tended to the chickens on the farm. She was a member of the Baxter E. Free Church and the women's card club. Frances loved to spend time with her family, garage sales, flea markets, antiques, playing cards, and going bowling in league.
Those left to cherish her loving memory are her children Dennis (Carol) Jontz of Baxter, IA, Darrell (Jeannie) Jontz of Goshen, IN, and Diane (Warren) Pennington of Port Byron, IL; grandchildren Mark (Mitzi) Jontz, Jolene (Merle) Krohn, Tom (Lisa) Jontz, Rachel (Brad) Hitchler, Karl (Lori DeLashaw) Jontz, JoAnne (Joe) Kelly, Derek (Kellsa) Jontz, Allison (Geo) Boisvenue, Sarah (Tim) Hornbuckle, and Chad (Lauren) Pennington; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter Natalie Jontz, brother Walter, sisters Lois, Martha, Viola, and Beulah, and an infant brother at birth.
Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Frances and her family.
