Deborah Ann Ayers
July 6, 1951 - December 21, 2019

Deborah Snowden Ayers, age 68, of rural New London died Saturday, Dec. 21, at Great River Hospice House. She was surrounded by her loved ones.

Deborah was born in Burlington on July 6, 1951. She was the daughter of Robert and Helen (Thompson) Snowden. She married Don Vernon Ayers on Feb. 1, 1986. Vern was killed in a winter auto accident on Jan. 30, 2002. Deborah worked at several factories in Mt. Pleasant after Vern's death, however the occupation she loved best was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was happiest planting her gardens and living on the Ayers acreage near New London.

Deb and Vern were the parents of four children. Surviving are two sons; Cyrus and Ahban (Ausha) Ayers of Cedar Rapids, and two daughters Rose Ayers of Ankeny and Iris (Adam) Ayers of New London. Also surviving are two grandsons: Izak Lumadue and Archer Ayers.

Deb was preceded in death by her father, mother, step-father Loy Gorman, her brother Steve Snowden, and mother-in-law Mary Huff.

Besides her children and grandsons, she is survived and will be missed by nieces, nephews, many cousins and her sister-in-law Linda Snowden of Burlington.
Elliott Chapel of New London is assisting the family. Cremation will be accorded as Deborah wished. There will be no services. A private family committal of ashes will be held in the spring when flowers are blooming. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
