Francis J. Verhasselt
June 17, 1928 - May 19, 2011

Francis J. Verhasselt, of Antigo, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center. He was 82 years old. He was born on June 17, 1928 in Antigo, a son of Henry and Mary (Debroux) Verhasselt. He married Caroline Hayek on July 1, 1950 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Antigo. She survives.

Mr. Verhasselt was a dairy farmer in Phlox for 35 years and was also employed at Teal's Prepared Foliage in Antigo.

He enjoyed wood working, puzzles, dancing and listening to polkas and gardening. He also had a passion for eagles.

In addition to his wife survivors include two daughters, Cheryl (Tim) Lenzner, Antigo and Bonnie Morgan, Minocqua; two sons, Michael (Joan) Verhasselt, Fayetteville, NC and Karl Verhasselt, Antigo; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (James) Waupekenay, Scott Lenzner, Lisa Lenzner, Sarah Block, John (Kumok), Mark (Harley), and David (Nicole) Verhasselt; thirteen great grandchildren; four sisters, Agnes (Glen) Krivoshein, Deerbrook, Catherine Brittenham, Antigo, Lucille Verhagen, Antigo and Helen Verhasselt, Antigo; two brothers, Ben (Eloise) Verhasselt, Antigo and Clement (Carol) Verhasselt, Wausau; a sister-in-law, Margaret Verhasselt.

He was preceded in death by a son, Terrance Verhasselt; two sons-in-law, Kevin Block and Mitch Morgan; a brother, Ray Verhasselt; and a sister, Bernadine Noskowiak.

A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Holy Family in Phlox. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Reverend Charles Hoffmann and Deacon Tom Hartman will be officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. A parish wake service will be held on Sunday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
