Gary Acord

Gary D. Acord, 67, of Akron OH and Pie Town NM, lost his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on 25 Nov 2013 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Gary was born in Akron, Ohio to Harold and Geneva (Manning) Acord on 19 Aug 1946. He attended high school in Randolph, Ohio and then Tulsa University. He married Michele (Bailey) Acord in 1968 in W.Va., and together they had two children, Eric and Nicole. Gary remarried In Oct 1995 to Cathy (Majko) Acord. He served in the Ohio Army National Guard, retiring after 31 years at the rank of First Sergeant from HHC 1/107th Armored Batallion in Stow, Ohio. He was member of the Mogadore Ohio VFW Post 8487. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Erin Acord, and sister Jennifer Feller. Gary is survived by wife Cathy, son Eric (Tricia) Acord, daughter Nicole Ebner, step-daughter Davida (Brad) Wagner, Grandchildren, Parker and Bailey Acord, Brendan Ebner, Andrew, Alex, Braden and Blake Wagner, numerous nieces and nephew and an abundance of great friends. Gary never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, spending Summers in Ohio and Winters in Yuma, AZ. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held in Ohio, June 2014. Memorials may be made in Gary's honor to either www.CaringBridge.org or to www.pancan.org
