Klaus Braun

Dr. Klaus "Jack" Braun, a professor of Mathematics at Houston Community College, died at his home in Houston, TX on the 25th of October 2013. Dr. Braun was born in Bielitz, Germany on the 5th of November 1940. His family immigrated to Canada in 1953 where he attended McGill University in Montreal, receiving a B.S. in Math-Physics in 1962. In 1972, Dr. Braun received his PhD. in Physics, with a minor in Computer Science, from The University of Wisconsin at Madison. After several years running his own consumer electronics business, a teaching position brought him to Houston in 1977, where he found his passion as an instructor, teaching courses over a 36 year career in T/V Repair, Electronics Technology, Physics, and most notably, Mathematics. Dr. Braun was well-loved and respected by his students, known for his helpfulness and strong desire to see them succeed. Jack's other interests included electronics and automotive repair, home improvement, and investing. Jack was preceded in death by his mother Martha Niedworok Braun, step-father Horst, and father Julius Grünweller. He is survived by his loving partner Andrea Ramon, daughter Angela Lenort and husband Dean; daughter Heidi Braun; son Geoffrey Braun, and two granddaughters. He is also survived by his sister Ursula Awad and husband Philip, and three nieces. A private memorial will be held for family and close friends on Wednesday, the 30th of October.
