David Henry Tullos, born March 21, 1961, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2016 in Houston, TX.
David is survived by his wife of 20 years, Amanda H. Tullos, and three children: Rhiannon Johnson and spouse Christopher Johnson, Shyla Tullos and spouse Steve Plehinger, and Ethan Tullos. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Brandon Ayala, Aiden Troy Wells, and Jana Donaldson as well as by his mother Maria Tullos, and siblings Thomas R. Tullos Jr. and spouse Tricia, Jack Tullos, and Judy Cooper and spouse Steve Cooper. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Tullos Sr. and grandfather John Cechin.
He was loyal and faithful partner, friend, and father. A protector and role model to all who knew him, David was a man of his Word. His self-discipline served as a solid foundation that assisted him as he beat multiple odds both early and later in life.
David's amazing ability to keep an eye on details and maintain a strict sense of boundaries served as valuable skills in his profession. He worked at Electrotex as a manager for many years until it closed. He was then a steadfast employee for 13 years at Lane Equipment Company, where he served as the Operations Manager until his passing.
Among David's hobbies through the years, he found the most peace in amateur photography, fishing, and camping with his family in their Airstream trailer. David and his family visited many state and national parks frequently. David loved music and enjoyed working as a DJ in his spare time for many years. He and his wife also operated a shop at a Renaissance festival, where they sold crafts and the best coffee and espresso around. Many fond memories and friendships were created on these outings.
David had no regrets or unfinished business in the end. Despite illness taking him early in life--at 55 years of age-- his dreams were fulfilled and he was able to live life to the fullest. He is and will be greatly missed.
Thank you to all family and friends that have been so supportive over the past 18 months. Special thanks to Lane Equipment Company, Houston Hospice and MD Anderson.
We look forward to celebrating David's life and celebrating those that he loved and who loved him. Memorial service details to follow. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donations to the Tullos family can be made at YouCaring or a donation to the National Park Foundation or Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation can be made in his memory.
