Robert Brewer Willett,
July 28, 1935 - March 25, 2019

Robert Brewer Willett Jr. "Bob", a devoted husband, father, grandad, great grandad and loyal friend left our family suddenly March 25, 2019 in McKinney TX.  He was a very caring man with a wonderful dry sense of humor. Family and friends meant everything to him, he was always eager to help anyone in need, and was a master of organization - benefiting everyone and every organization he came in contact with.

He was born July 28,1935 in Kansas City MO to Robert Willett Sr. and Beatrice Redman. He had a love for the water and upon graduating high school, joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served 4 years active duty aboard the USCG Lantana and 4 years in the reserves. While stationed on the Mississippi, he met the love of his life, Carol Edith Fine. They have been inseparable for 62 years and enjoyed a wonderful life together. When he left the service, they moved to Marion, IA and had three children.

He had a passion for electronics and graduated from Electronics Technical College and went to work for Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Later after being acquired by Rockwell International, they relocated to Richardson, TX. He was influential in the development of modern Engineering Metrology and was involved in designing the avionics systems used on the Gemini and Apollo missions at NASA.

He was also a sport enthusiast playing tennis and golf on into retirement years in Hot Springs Village AR where he and Carol were very active in their community and built many lasting friendships while there over 25 years. They had very recently moved back to Texas to be closer to family when he left us too soon. He was a member of the Methodist Church all his life, a bird watcher, animal lover and computer enthusiast. He had many creative hobbies over his lifetime including photography, calligraphy, woodworking and restoring old things. He and Carol enjoyed many wonderful road trips over the years to enjoy nature and explore different scenic parts of the country.

He is survived by his wife Carol, son Robert Willett, daughter Sunny Willett Geels and husband Greg, son Steve Willett and wife Mia, grandchildren Allison and husband Chris, Rachael, Steven, Danielle, Derek and wife Emily, Tanner and wife Hygia, Kayla and husband Ariano, Max, and four great grandsons Luke, Charlie, William and Adrian (born the day before he passed).  His parents and sisters Marjorie Houpt and Jane Carver had passed on before him.

He will be celebrated and laid to rest in the coming weeks by his family in Van Winkle Cemetery outside of Princeton TX. If desired, any donations in his name can be made to the American Heart Association or Michael J. Fox Foundation.
