In loving memory of

Michael "Mike" Owens
February 22, 1949 - August 12, 2019

Michael "Mike" L. Owens was born February 22, 1949 to D. and Wanda Owens in Fort Worth, TX. He graduated from North Side High School in 1967 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Texas at Arlington in 1974. He worked his whole career in the electricity sector working for Texas, Power & Light and its various subsidiaries.  He retired in 2011 after 38 years with the company.

Although he preferred to spend time at home, he spent his summers at Lake Hawkins with his daughters. His passion was billiards. He spent several evenings playing in a pool league at local halls, and went to Vegas every year for a big billiards tournament. He always denied it, but his family is pretty sure he paid for college by hustling pool. He enjoyed other activities such as reading, fishing, and even learned to scuba dive later in life. Mike enjoyed watching old western TV shows and movies, especially those starring Clint Eastwood and John Wayne. One of his favorite musicians was Neil Diamond but country and western music was the staple. He was always willing to help others, he was loyal to his friends and family.  He was extremely frugal but still took care of his family and responsibilities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W. D. and Wanda Owens; brother, Jackie Owens; and grandson Owen Chandler. He is survived by daughter April Walker & her husband Paul of Frisco, TX; daughter Kelly Stewart & her husband Jamie of Providence Village, TX; Grandchildren, Matthew, Parker, Logan George, Kalyn, Morgan, and Sophie Rose, and long time friends Dale Summers and Mark Riis.
