MADISON - Frank LeRoy Roloff Sr., age 83, passed away at HospiceCare, Madison, on May 30, 2011, after a major stroke.
He was born to Albert and Mildred Roloff on August 17, 1927, in Cuba City. After graduating from Cuba City High School he served in the U.S. Navy until the end of World War II. In 1947 he married Barbara Jean Nelson. He grew up working at the family creamery at Happy Corners until they moved to Madison. In Madison he was an ice cream maker at Bowman Dairy, and later worked as a chef at the Cuba Club until its' closing. He then worked at Econoprint and the 4C's with his wife, Barbara. He was a kind, hardworking, and gracious man. He enjoyed playing and coaching baseball, and he was also an avid golfer. He was devoted to family, entertaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called him "Papa". He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Hird of Grand Rapids, Mich.; his sister in-law Annette Bennett and her husband David of Woodstock, Va.; his sister in-law Jackie Nelson of Pasadena, Calif.; his four children, Karla (George) Bedord, Frank Jr. (Kathy) Roloff, David (Beth) Roloff, William (Suzanne) Roloff, all of Madison; his six grandchildren, Michelle (Michael) Swenson, Rich (Holly) Gerou, Karl and Phillip Roloff, Erik and James Roloff; and his seven great-grandchildren, Brandon, Taylor, Jessica, Lauren, Cal, Corbin, and Kai. His wife, Barbara, preceded him in death.
The family wishes to express gratitude to all of the staff at HospiceCare and especially to Dr. Bernard Micke for his compassion and care of Frank and his family over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations sent in Frank's name to HospiceCare, Inc., 5395 Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. Funeral services will be private.

"Frank had such a gracious and kind heart, he always welcomed our family into his home and we had the best chats with him and Barb. I loved going to see him as he always made you feel so great about yourself!!
