Dorothy Bleiweiss, 97, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 in Houston, TX. Born in 1917 in New York City, Dorothy lived most of her life in Brooklyn, NY with her husband Irving and two daughters, Sharon and Lisa. She moved to Houston in 1998 to be near her daughter, Lisa.
After graduating from high school, Dorothy worked in the credit industry in New York. Her jobs always involved direct contact with the public, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

A lifelong learner, Dorothy was an avid reader and was passionate about the arts. She particularly loved music and interior design. She loved writing poetry to express her deep love for her family. Everyone who met Dorothy found her adorable and lovable. She loved being around people, both to learn about their lives and to share her own experiences and passions. She possessed a certain spark and vitality that were with her up until the very end.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Sharon Kashen and her husband Mark, and Lisa Hoffman and her husband Warren, her grandchildren, Pamela Nivasch and her husband Michael, Rebecca Rosenstack and her husband Jeff, Jennifer Krakowsky and her husband Josh, Blair Andres and her husband Jon, as well as her extended family of grandchildren, Lauryn Kobren and her husband Jason, and Hayden Hoffman. She is also survived by her eight great-grandchildren, Jake, Daniel, Amanda, Jessica, Ethan, Ian, Leo and Emily. She will be missed tremendously by all those who loved her.

Services were held at Mount Ararat Cemetery in Long Island, New York on July 31, 2015. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), channel 8, or the charity of your choice.
