In loving memory of

Sidney Rosenblum
January 11, 1928 - May 18, 2015

Sidney Samuel Rosenblum, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015 in Houston, Texas at the age of 87.  He was born in Montgomery, AL, grew up in Hammond, LA, and graduated from Gulf Coast Military Academy.  He attended Tulane University, served in the U.S. Army in Japan, and received his BBA degree from LSU.
Sid was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Andree, parents, Rachel Muroff and Lucille and Charles Rosenblum; brother, Alvin Rosenblum and sister, Norma Ablon.  He is survived by children:  Simone and John Irwin of Houston, TX; Cindy and Alan Golman and Kip Rosenblum of Dallas, TX; grandchildren:  Danielle and Brent Wise; Stephanie and Ross Golman; Ashley and Thomas Irwin; Stephanie and David Wise; Lauren Golman; and Cathryn and Booth Farwell; and great-grandchildren:  Henry and Sam Wise, Jackson and Madelyn Farwell; Jake and Caroline Irwin; Charlie and Chase Wise; and Griffin Golman.  He is also survived by sisters-in-law Jackie Toledano of New Orleans, LA, and Sally Rosenblum of Bogalusa, LA; loving nieces and nephews; and dear companion, Emmie Hudson.

Sid was an active community and business leader in Hammond, serving as Mayor Pro-Tem and President of both the Rotary Club and Lion's Club.  He owned and operated Rosenblum's Department Store, served on the board of Citizens National Bank, and received Hammond's Man of the Year award. His favorite activities of golfing, gambling and cuddling with Andree were surpassed only by his passion for spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sid was insatiably curious, had an unparalleled intellect, possessed an unrivaled memory, was unfailingly kind, and made friends everywhere he went.  Sid had several great loves in his life.  He loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends with reckless enthusiasm.  If he couldn't be with them, he loved any craps table he could find, thoughtful discussions on the stock market, LSU football, and anything you wanted to talk about.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Green Lawn Cemetery in Hammond, LA. In lieu of flowers, kind donations may be made to Rosenblum Mental Health Center, 130 Robin Hood Drive, Hammond, LA 70403,  or charity of your choice.
