Ruth Sacks Braun passed away on Thursday July 16, 2015 at the age of 88. She passed away peacefully at home where she was lovingly cared for by her son, Lenny Braun. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 8, 1927 to Lena and Richard Sacks. She was the beloved wife of the late Texas State Representative, Rex Braun. She moved to Houston when she married at the age of 18. Ruth is survived by her son Mike Braun (Joanne), of McAllen, Texas, daughter, Debby Stanton (Alan) of Houston and son, Lenny Braun of Conroe. Also survived by grandchildren Brian Stanton (Amy) of Houston, Jeffrey Stanton (Lisa) of Houston, Sara Braun of Dallas, and Rachael Braun of Denton, Texas. Great grandchildren Sophia and Olivia Stanton of Houston and Joshua and Max Stanton of Houston. Also survived by sister-in-law Gilda Sacks of Pembroke Pines Florida, and nieces and nephews Donna Braun-Hagey of Austin, Texas, Sheryl and Peter Title of New Orleans, Louisiana, Roseanne and Howard Friedberg of Miami, Florida and Dr. Preston Sacks of Washington. D.C. Sister of the late Bella Sacks Gerber of New Orleans, Louisiana, and the late Dr. Willie Sacks of Pembroke Pines, Florida. Ruth worked side by side in their family men's clothing business---Rex the Tailor. When he served in the state of Texas Legislature as a state representative, she continued to run the business as well as support him in his political career. When her husband passed away, she pursued and obtained a college degree in psychology at Saint Edwards University in Austin, Texas. Upon her graduation, she counseled patients suffering with drug addiction. She also counseled patients and families facing death. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 1:30pm, at Congregation Emanu El, 1500 Sunset Blvd, Houston, Texas.
