George Korn was born on June 20, 1926 in Budapest, Hungary to Rose and Eugene Korn. He was the second of two boys. George passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 89 years old. He is survived by his daughter, Maria and her husband, Paul Michael, their children, Elena and Warren Eller and Alex Michael; daughter Sue and her husband, Frank Plunkett; their children, Ally and Jim Cain, and Nicole Plunkett. He was predeceased by his parents, beloved wife Vera and brother, Leslie.
He graduated with an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and earned dual master's degrees in Physics and Engineering from St. Mary's State College in Winona, Minnesota.

George, his beloved wife Vera and older daughter Maria escaped Communist Hungary in 1956 and settled in Rochester, Minnesota. The following year brought great joy to their lives as they welcomed their second daughter, Sue. His career also took him to Raleigh, NC, Chicago, IL and finally Houston.

George retired after a successful career as an engineer, manager and consultant with IBM. He was a man of many broad interests - photography, art, cars, classical music, opera and reading both the classics and other genres. He was a long time member of Jewish Community North and later in his life, Temple Sinai. George's foremost passion and joy was his family, and he was happiest when he could be with his daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren.

The family thanks the dedicated, caring staff of Magnolia Way at Bayou Vista and Dr. Raina Patel of Eagle's Trace Retirement Community, who cared for George in his last years. In addition the family is grateful to the special services provided by A-MED hospice.

George was a Holocaust survivor and his story is memorialized at the Holocaust Museum in Houston. For those wishing to make donations, please remember The Holocaust Museum of Houston and Temple Sinai with your generosity.
