Sylvia Gordon
December 17, 1921 - October 24, 2015
Sylvia Wurtzel Gordon, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully, as she lived her life, on Saturday, Oct. 24. Sylvia was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 17, 1921 to Sadie and Harry Wurtzel.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dr. Michael Eisemann, her adoring grandchildren, Vanessa Eisemann (Catherine), Jeremy Eisemann (Annie), Dr. Bradley Eisemann (fiancé Erin Kronberg), Neil Gordon (Regina), Andrew Gordon (Nicole), as well as her adoring great grandchildren, Benjamin Whiting-Eisemann, Adelaide Whiting-Eisemann, Samantha Eisemann, Bryce Gordon and Davis Gordon.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved son, Dr. Gene Gordon, her beloved and devoted husband of 68 years, Dr. Albert Gordon.
After living in New York for most of her life, Sylvia and Al moved to Houston in 1977 to join their daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. Together they truly made Houston their home.
Sylvia will always be loved and remembered by all her family for her kind smile, and beautiful blue eyes. Sylvia treasured her family above all else, and was a strong and independent woman with a positive attitude, encouraging others to be positive as well.
The family is very grateful to her caregivers, Rachel Frederick, Essa Rankine and recently Marcela Melendez and Maggie Salinas for the great blessing of their love, care and friendship. It was a blessing, above all else.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Congregation Beth Yeshurun or the charity of your choice.
