In loving memory of

Dr. Aaron Mintz
July 29, 1922 - November 12, 2015

Dr. Aaron Mintz passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2015.  He was 93.
Aaron was born on July 29, 1922 in Houston, Texas and earned degrees from Rice University and UT Medical Branch at Galveston.  His superior record in medical school earned him membership in the AOA medical honor fraternity.  He was a faculty member at Baylor College of Medicine from 1952 to 2014 and was Deputy Chief and later Chief of Pediatrics at Ben Taub Hospital for most of that time.  Before deciding to focus on teaching full-time, he treated children in a busy pediatric practice in southeast Houston for over a dozen years.  He served for many years on the boards of both Harris County Children's Protective Services and Seven Acres.  Aaron also served in the United States Army before and after attending medical school.

Aaron met his first wife Helen during his Army basic training in Kansas.  They shared 40 years of marriage and 3 children.  His second wife Jo predeceased him in March 2014, a few months before their 25th wedding anniversary.  Aaron loved fishing in Galveston Bay, traveling to places near and far, playing blackjack, and taking cruises.  He loved his work as a pediatrician, and seeing young children around him and watching their antics was one of his greatest pleasures in his last years.

Aaron is survived by his first wife Helen Mintz; three children Steve, Richard, and Beverly Mintz; seven grandchildren Jaffray Getz and Joshua, Ryan, Jacob, Jordan, Jayme, and Jaden Mintz; and three great-grandchildren Ellie and Lauren Getz and Benson Mintz.

The Mintz family especially thanks Amope Subulade and June Brown for their loving caregiving, which made such a positive difference in Aaron's quality of life during his last two years.
