In loving memory of

Lois Rottersmann
June 26, 1917 - May 9, 2016

Lois Rottersmann, 98, died May 9, 2016, in her home, of natural causes.
She leaves children Sherry Lewis and Chuck Rottersmann, grandchildren Terrence Lewis, Randolph Lewis and Rachel Max, Meredith and Chris Mackenzie, and Stratton Rottersmann, and great grand children Gabriel and Chloe Lewis and beloved dog Angel.

Lois was born in Houston and raised in Hempstead, Texas. She graduated from University of Texas, after beginning college at the age of 16, where she was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority.

Before meeting Eddie, her husband of 50 years, Lois worked as a dress designer and seamstress. She was a member of Temple Beth Israel and was active in the temple sisterhood. She and her husband were long standing members of Westwood Country Club where she enjoyed golfing and tennis.

Fueled by a passion for life and intrigue into all that the world had to offer, Lois sought out knowledge, culture and adventure wherever she went and in whatever she did. She golfed, skied and traveled the globe into her 80's and ballroom danced into her 90s. She performed several dance numbers for friends and loved ones at her 90th birthday party. She loved to play Mah Jongg with her daughter and friends, and attended the National Mah Jongg league cruise for 25 years and where she won the tournament twice.

Lois loved to tell a story that encapsulates who she was. One Valentine's Day, while attending college, she decided she wanted to go swimming. In the brisk winter weather, she took a taxi out to Barton Springs in Austin, Texas where she dove gracefully into the chilly water. She smiled brightly when telling this story because it acted as a metaphor for how she lived her life. At every turn, Lois would smoothly dive head first into whatever life brought her way.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Beth Israel Memorial Gardens, 1101 Antoine, Houston with Rabbi Joshua Herman officiating.
