In loving memory of

Jay Karkowsky
July 16, 1938 - October 18, 2016

Jay J Karkowsky was born July 16, 1938 in Houston, TX to Ida and Leo Karkowsky, and passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016.  He graduated from San Jacinto High School, and later graduated from The University of Texas and The University of Texas Law School where he was a member of Phi Sigma Delta and Silver Spurs.
Jay was on the Board of Congregation Beth Yeshurun, President of B'nai Brith Men,  a Hadassah Associate and on the Board of Pasadena Texas Rotary. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army stationed in Frankfurt, Germany.  He felt very fortunate to be an American.

It was at UT that Jay J met his loving wife, Gerry, with whom he shared 55 beautiful years. They enjoyed traveling all over the world with friends or being at home spending time with their friends and family.  Their life together was a beautiful one filled with love and joy from their children and grandchildren, especially enjoying the yearly family trips to Colorado.

Jay maintained friendships from childhood while continually forging new ones. He brought love and joy to everyone who knew him. He was a quick witted, kind, compassionate, caring, gentle man who loved to play Bridge, read, play golf, & travel; The Houston Astros and Texas Longhorns were the best, if you asked him.

He is survived by his wife, Gerry and his children and their families: son Frank & wife Elizabeth, and their children Ryan and Lindsey Karkowsky; son Ronnie & wife Laurie, and their children Austin, Max, Madeline and Tyler Karkowsky; and daughter Melanie & husband John Vest and their daughter Hayley.
