In loving memory of

Jerome "Jerry" Goldstein
June 24, 1947 - April 22, 2018

Jerome "Jerry" D. Goldstein, 70, died Sunday, April 22 at peace at his own home, following recent news of an aggressive form of cancer.  Jerry leaves his daughters, Michelle and Stacy Goldstein, who were the light of his life.  He is survived by his mother, Cynthia (Peizer) Goldstein.  He was also blessed with many great friends and former colleagues.

Jerry was born and raised in Connecticut, and was the son of Harold and Cynthia Goldstein, and the brother of Susan (Goldstein) Ginsberg.  After high school, he attended Ohio State University and was in the Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity, and then University of Miami (FL) where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.

After graduating college, Jerry had some evolution in his career, with the earlier part being in the wine distribution business in Omaha, Nebraska.  Destined to be a salesman, Jerry then began his career in commercial real estate in 1981, which blossomed into that of great success.  In 1994, he joined Marcus and Millichap, where he has specialized in multi-tenant shopping centers.  During his tenure there, he has earned thirteen Sales Achievement Awards and was the top producing agent for the majority of years there.  Jerry took enormous pride in his career, but most importantly, he relished the friendships he developed over his decades of being in the business.

As he loved the outdoors and staying active, Jerry frequented Memorial Park and Buffalo Bayou for runs or walks.  He was also a member of the Houstonian, where he would mingle with friends and industry colleagues, exercise, and work on his health with a trainer.  Jerry also had a passion for wine and his trips to Napa further educated his palette enough to charm guests at a dinner table.  He was well traveled across the globe; and in recent years, has enjoyed trips to places such as Hawaii, Argentina, Mexico, and ski trips with friends in Colorado.  Jerry's greatest pleasure was spending time with his two daughters and watching them grow into beautiful, intelligent women.

"Dear Stacy and Michelle, I just learned of Jerry's death! We were friends thru Marcus & Millichap years but I really got to know Jerry when I was in Houston. He never failed to invite me to the latest Jazz night at one of the clubs in Houston because he knew that was part of my hertiage having gone to the U of Miami Jazz school! We always had a blast! He seem to know everyone and introduced me to many! Thank you Jerry for all your gratitude and all the fun times and just taking pity on the newcomer to Houston! You are greatly missed!"

"I used to love spending time with Jerry at the Marcus & Millichap agent trips they would hold in Napa and Hawaii. I could (and did) talk to Jerry for hours on end. We came close to going fishing together on Padre Island, but never could seem to put a trip together. I will work to fish more in honor of Jerry!"

"In a state of shock, just learned from Carol at M & M about the sudden loss of a great guy, friend, and pillar of the commercial real estate brokerage community. My heartfelt condolences to the family. Although it's been a while, my best memory of Jerry and I were spent on a realtor fishing trip B eSing about our commonality of us both coming from Connecticutt /New York area to Texas not knowing a soul. I'll miss you buddy."

"I began my brokerage career in Houston under the guidance and mentorship of Jerry. I learned so much from him about retail and owe much of my success to his leadership. Over the years, there have been many times that I have found myself saying or doing what he taught me - unconsciously - with a smile. At times, I thought my writing and notes to other brokers in my office looked very similar to his marks when he edited my underwriting and memorandums. Thanks for your time, effort and sharing yourself with me during our time together in Houston. Sincerely, you will be missed! To the family, thanks for sharing Jerry with us. Jerry spoke fondly of you and loved his family very much."

"Cousin Jerry, reuniting with you after 30+ years is one of the highlights of my life. Time moved too quickly and I didn't get a chance to enjoy your company and charm nearly enough. I'll think of you often."

"Jerry was my Uncle. He was the fun, classy and smart Uncle that I always enjoyed seeing. I remember when Michelle and Stacy and I went on a trip during one summer. I learned how to play BS I think and I don?t think I thought I could laugh so hard. Him and my mom have passed down Sales skills to all their kids, but most importantly they have shown us the love I try to show my kids everyday. Never a day where you couldn?t tell how deep he loved his girls. I will miss him and the fact that he can?t witness more of what his daughters accomplish in life. But he will certainly be watching over them from above. Xo"

"Jerry was my brother In law and a real friend. We shared the same birthday which will make it difficult to celebrate particularly this year. He was incredibly devoted to his two favorite people in the world, his daughters Michelle and Stacey. Like his sister he was a fantastic salesman. I always said they could both sell ice in the winter. He will be sorely missed."

Daughter Michelle wrote on May 2, 2018:

"Daddy I love you so much!! I will honor your legacy every day. I hope you continue to be proud of me. I promise if your daughters could have fixed you from being sick on Earth, we would have done anything. It was out of our control and now God has you healed. You lived such a rewarding life, so I know you're enjoying pleasure in the Afterlife."

"My sincere condolences to Jerry's family. Jerry and I grew up together and shared so many memorable moments. We enjoyed so much fun and so many adventures together. We had a wonderful and happy youth with our group of friends. Although it's been many, many years since we have seen one another it seems like it was just yesterday that we were teenagers doing so many stupid and crazy things together. Jerry's passing breaks my heart and reminds me how quickly life passes. I'm certain Jerry loved his girls and my heart goes out to you on your Father's passing. May he rest in peace and please know that many cherished your Dad and will miss him dearly."
