Edie is survived by her husband and love of her life of 47 years, William (Bill) Orlin, her children, Michelle Dawalt and son-in-law Skip, Marc Meyers, Julie Orlin Pickett and Cindy Orlin Ely, her grandchildren, Josh and his fiancé Cassie, Ashley and her partner Daniel, Jennifer Hertz and her husband Brian, Brandon and his fiancé Alyssa, Jamie, Jared and Jacob, her great-grandson Kayden, and many close friends and former colleagues.
Edith was born April 5th, 1934 and passed away June 2nd 2018. She was raised in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of Frances Warnov and Jack Witkoff, she made her way to Houston, Texas in 1954 to visit family and ultimately decided to make it her new home. In the spring of 1968 she began dating her future husband and lifelong partner, Bill Orlin. They were married on March 20, 1971 and celebrated their 47th anniversary this year. After her move to Houston, she took technical courses and became an executive assistant in the accounting department at Rice University. At the age of 62, she retired from Rice after 35 years of service. After retiring, she began her "volunteering career" by working with the MD Anderson Children's Project, Seven Acres, where she served as president of the Volunteer Auxiliary and Holocaust Museum of Houston from time to time with her husband. In addition, Edie was heavily involved at Congregation Beth Israel, where she has been a member for over 50 years, and spent several years on the Sisterhood Board, co-chaired Mitzvah Day projects and volunteered in the sisterhood gift shop.
Throughout her adult life, Edie enjoyed every day to the fullest by traveling to distant places, enjoying the arts, as well as weekly mah-jongg games with her close friends. Edie's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren during all the holidays.
