Marian Sue Vegder
January 14, 1932 - August 1, 2019
Marian Sue Vegder, 87 passed away in her sleep on Thursday, August 1st after a brief illness at Seven Acres Senior Living Center in Houston.
Marian was pre-deceased by her husband Ted Vegder and her son Mark Steven Vegder, as well as her sisters Harriet Kitner and Helen Estren and brother Albert Schultz.
Marian leaves her daughter, Lauren Ann Froystein and her son-in-law Arnvid Froystein; her son Scott Terry Vegder and his significant other Sanna Breen; her granddaughters, Vanessa Michele Vegder and Madelyn Cathryn Vegder and many friends and former colleagues.
Marian was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 14th, 1932 to Barney and Pearl Schultz. Marian and her family lived in Tucumcari, New Mexico, Amarillo, Texas before finally settling in Houston. Marian enrolled at the University of Texas in Austin before she returned to Houston to work at MD Anderson Cancer Center for Dr. Dimakowski. In 1958 she got married to Ted Vegder and started their family that would eventually grow to three children. During that time she was also employed as a legal secretary for The Combs Law Firm in Downtown Houston. She worked there for almost twenty years until the firm closed as a result of the retirement of the Partners. Subsequently she took a job at the Lord and Taylor Department Store in the Houston Galleria. She absolutely loved working in the Home Fashions Department, interacting with the customers and helping them find the perfect accessories for their homes. She received several commendations including the Diamond Star Employee of the Quarter many times. Additionally, throughout her career she often volunteered as a model for young art school students.
