Christina Johnson
October 22, 1927 - January 7, 2020

Christina Johnson, 92, of Clarksville, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Waverly Health Center.

Christina Kampman Johnson was born October 22, 1927, to Frederick and Harmke (Freudenberg) Kampman near Bristow in Butler County, Iowa.

Christina was baptized on July 15, 1928, at the First Reformed Church in Bristow, by Pastor Gottlob Zindler. Her parents were her sponsors.

She attended country school in Jackson Township and graduated from the 8th grade on June 18, 1941.
Christina was confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison on April 18, 1943, by Pastor W. C. Nassen.

She was united in marriage on October 22, 1946, to Fred Johnson. Wedding vows were exchanged at the Little Brown Church in rural Nashua, with the Rev. F. L. Hanscom officiating. Everett and Alma Johnson were their witnesses.

To this union they were blessed with two daughters, Esther Christine and Barbara Sue.

Fred and Christina farmed together for forty-one years in the Allison and Clarksville areas. They were blessed sharing 70 years of married life together.

Christina has always been an active member in the Lutheran faith teaching Sunday school, Altar Guild member and participating in Bible study groups. She is a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church - Vilmar.

Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, fishing, camping, and traveling. Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was her greatest joy.

Christina was preceded in death by her loving husband Fred, parents Frederick and Harmke Kampman, sisters Alma Johnson and Henrietta Card, brother Conrad Kampman, along with several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She is survived by her daughters Esther Van Hauen of Allison and Barbara (Steven) Meyer of Clarksville, grandchildren Cynthia (Rick) Henninger, Gregory Van Hauen, Lory (Brian) Christoffersen, Craig (Kristine) Meyer, Stephanie (Jason) Klingenborg and Ryan (Katie) Meyer, great-grandchildren Cassandra Henninger; Ashlee and Anna Van Hauen; Cody and Callie Christoffersen; Marshall, Amelia, and Royce Meyer; Colton, Trenton, and Jaxson Klingenborg; Addison, August, and Jacob Meyer, sister-in-law Frances Johnson, brother-in-law Vern (Mary) Johnson, as well as many dear nieces and nephews.
