In loving memory of

Myrna Wright
December 12, 1940 - June 6, 2011

Myrna Wright, 70, of Colfax, took her last breath Monday June 6, 2011 surrounded by family at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
The second daughter of Gerald and Wilma Gaskins, Myrna was born at home on December 12, 1940. She lived most of her young life in the Runnells/Adelphi area. She married the love of her life, Lonnie Wright, on July 27, 1962. Together they lived in Des Moines, Mitchellville, Grimes and Colfax during their married life. Lonnie remained her best friend and faithful companion for 49 years.
Myrna had a passion for life, and her greatest treasure was family. She was very proud of her three children, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was never found in public without pictures of all of them, and was proud to show them to you whether you wanted to see them or not.
Myrna was also an avid bowler. She spent 16 years as an active member of the WIBC board of directors and served as President for 6 years. She was inducted into the Des Moines Women Area USBC Women's Bowling Association Hall Of Fame in 2007.
Woodland Hills Church of Christ was proud to call Myrna a member. Myrna equally enjoyed her time fellowshipping and worshiping with the members at Woodland Hills.
In comparison to these accomplishments, work meant much less to Myrna. However, she remained a loyal employee of Dial Finance/Norwest Financial/Wells Fargo for 35 years until her retirement.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Lonnie Wright; daughters, Darla (Bill) Fox, Deana (Kevin) Wright and Dori (Todd) Weston; grandchildren, Joe Fox (and companion Lynsie Crawford), Joshua (Carolina) Fox, Jason (Lainie) Fox, Kyle Sommars, Chad (Ashley) Sommars, Alexi Wright, Alex Wright, Loni Weston(and companion Cody Leedom), Lucas Weston and Linzi Weston; great grandchildren, Yathziry Fox, Makayla Fox, Emma Jo Leedom and Eva Jo Fox. One great granddaughter is on the way; Myrna endearingly called her "tadpole". Also remembering Myrna are her two sisters, Joyce Swanson and Donna Marshall, and one brother, Walter Gaskins.
Preceding Myrna in death were her parents, Gerald Gaskins and Wilma Gaskins Lewis, a step father, Clyde Lewis, and one brother, Steven Gaskins.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 8 at Coburn Funeral in Colfax where the family will be present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 9 at Woodland Hills Church of Christ with burial following at Warren Powers cemetery. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfhuneralhomes.com.
