Jon W. Meyer, 66, courageously fought cancer, which ultimately cost him his life, passing away, January 9, 2020, at Mercy One Hospice House in Johnston, IA. A Celebration of Life will be held at Oakwood United Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill, IA on January 16, 2020 at 11:00 AM, with a light lunch following. Memorials may be sent to Mercy One Hospice (5820 Winwood Dr., Johnson, IA 50131) in honor of Jon. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Jon was born September 9, 1953, in Sac City, IA to Bill and Mary Ann (Claussen) Meyer. He graduated from Sac City High School in 1972 and continued his education at DMACC. With 40+ years in the trucking business, he finished his career this past summer retiring from Andersen Windows and Doors.
When he wasn't on the road trucking, he enjoyed watching his favorite team, the Iowa Hawkeyes. Other times were spent tackling his honey-do list or helping others in need. Being an ol' farm boy, he believed in hard work and good values. He was the most patient, sweetest, gentle, kind hearted man who was loved by all who knew him.
He welcomed a baby boy, Adam Meyer, on October 3, 1977, who will continue to carry on his legacy each day going forward.
On May 2, 1987, Jon married his wife, Susan (Reynolds) Meyer in Altoona, IA, at the United Methodist Church. They have spent the last 33 years happily married residing in Pleasant Hill, IA, with their four legged friends, Allie II and Snooker VI.
Jon is proceeded in death by his father, William Carl Meyer; mother, Mary Ann (Claussen) Meyer; brother-in-law, Curtis Hill.
Jon is survived by his wife, Susan (Reynolds) Meyer; son Adam (Ashley) Meyer; granddaughter, Madison Meyer; sister, Gena (Meyer) Hill; niece, Alana Hill.
Celebrate Life Iowa has been entrusted with his cremation care.
