In loving memory of

Dock Henson
September 18, 1960 - January 19, 2020

It was the 18th of September 1960, that date will always be remembered, born the fourth child to Dock and Dorothy Tyler Henson. Dock attended IPS School #43, graduated Broad Ripple High School and attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He pledged to Omega PSI PHI Fraternity while he was there. Dock was baptized at the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. Being a lifetime resident of Indianapolis, Indiana he departs this life on Sunday, January 19, 2020 with 59 years of being the "Best".

He married the love of his life Bedett "Sweetie" Johnson, on October 24, 1992, she affectingly call him her "Boo". He fathered five children Jerome, Dock Jr, Koleya, Kiesha, William, Derrick Landers and LaShawnda Johnson completed the household he cherished and protected. Derick Shivers was Dock's grade school friends, they never lost their connection. Siblings Vikki, Jo Ann, Lynn Cheryl and Jason. He had many cousins in Indianapolis and Clarksville, Tennessee.

Dock held many jobs, currently employed by DFAS-IN for 28 years. There Dock received numerous awards from co-workers, internal and external customers. Dock was considered to "go to person" because of his knowledge. He received many awards and acknowledgements from Department of Defense for his work ethic and expertise.

Dock love music he could play the piano, he was "DJ" in his 20's. He had a wealth of knowledge of knowledge pertaining to song names, artist and the year they came out. He loved fishing with his Dad and passed it on to his sons as well. Dock loved playing basketball, he was well known for his dominated presence in the Dusk Bowl around the city. Game time, weather Super Bowl or any game he hosted his entourage of family and friends. Dock was BBQ master, everybody that tasted it loved it. Playing horse shoes with the guys was another favorite pass time of his.

Loved never fades, so we keep him forever in our hearts wife Bedett Henson, children Jerome (Tijuana) Wilson, Koleya Henson, Kiesha (Chris) Henson, William Henson, Derrick Landers and LaShawnda. Fifteen grandchildren and three-great grandchildren. Three sisters Vikki Alexander, Jo Ann Miller, Lynn Henson and one brother Jason Henson. Host of cousins and friends. His parents Dock and Dorothy and his son Dock, Jr. proceeded him in death.

Remember me: Dock would want you to say, Remember me for the good times we shared, my love of fishing with my sons, my hunting days with my Dad, my horse shoes games with the fellows, my hosting the Super Bowl games and other sports that TV that would provide. Remember me for my love of music, remember my coaching days with the team at Metropolitan Church, football with grandson. Remember me for my love of cooking and sharing a meal. Remember me girls, for all those "but Daddy". Remember saying " I want my Daddy's records". Remember me for my 3:30 dash to pick up my wife from work. Remember me for telling jokes, remember me for the love I share with each of you. Remember me for I am a part of you.
