Robert E. DeFord Sr.
Canton - Robert E. DeFord Sr., 85, of Canton, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 at his residence. He was born on October 28, 1934 in Table Grove to Ross V. and Mildred Louis (Stremmel) DeFord. Robert married Emily Cummings on March 30, 1963 in Cuba. She survives along with three children; Robert E. DeFord Jr. of Canton, Randy A. DeFord of Florida, and Rick R. (Michelle) DeFord of Lewistown, two brothers; Billy Lee (Billie) DeFord of Macomb and John R. (Janice) DeFord of Lewistown, two sisters; JoAnn Lindsey of Canton and Linda Lane of Cuba, ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, son Ronald G. DeFord and brother Jack L. DeFord.
Robert worked at Navistar International for 31.5 years, retiring in 1990. He was a hard worker all his life and loved to ride horses. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, big brother and a terrific uncle.
Services will be 11 am Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton, where visitation will be from 5-7 pm Friday, January 31, 2020. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton. Memorials can be made to the 1st Baptist Church Food Pantry.
