Margaret C. Damman, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2013. She was a resident of Grosse Pointe Woods for many years.
Margaret was born on February 27, 1924 in Detroit to Roy and Ruby (Leeak) Hines.
She was married to Warren E. Damman in 1945 in Grosse Pointe, MI where they raised their 6 children.
Margaret was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, enjoyed spending time with her family at their cottage near Lexington, MI, taking walks on the beach and sitting around bonfires. Margaret loved to paint, play the organ and enjoyed working as a volunteer at Cottage Hospital. She was a very energetic person who loved life, her dogs and spending time with her family.
Margaret is survived by her children Lynda Grippi, Diane (William) Laney, Warren (Susan) Damman, Ronald (Janice) Damman, and Suzanne (George) Scandalis. Her husband Warren, son Roger and son-in-law Frank Grippi preceded Margaret in death. She is also survived by her brother, William (Georgina) Hines.
Margaret cherished her 12 grandchildren, Steven (Liz) Laney, David Laney, Lisa (Charles) Mannino, Laurie (Bradley) Schafer, Jonathan Grippi, Christopher (Jennifer) Damman, Michael Damman, Tripp Damman, William Damman, Joanna Damman, Warren Damman and Jason Damman.
She is also survived by her 7 great-grandchildren, Taylor Laney, Allison Laney, Christopher Damman, Benjamin Damman, Morgan Mannino, Anthony Mannino and Lilah Schafer.
Visitation will be at Verheyden Funeral Home on Sunday, November 24 from 2:00 to 9:00pm, 16300 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe. There will be a rosary at 7:00pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 25 at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 122412 Overlake, St. Clair Shores; Instate 9:30 AM until of Mass at 10:00 AM.
