HER LEGACY....Matie L. Miller age 93 of Bellevue Iowa and formerly of Andrew Iowa died on Friday morning May 302008.0 at the Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue Iowa. Matie L. Bahnsen was born on March 27 1915 in Hayfield Minnesota to Peter Bahnsen and Louise (Eggert) Bahnsen. She married John Seiler. He preceded her in death. She then married Burdette C. Andy Miller on July 30 1943 in Pierre South Dakota. He preceded her in death on January 16 2000. Matie first worked at the Fishing Tackle Co. and for Gibson's Airplane Factory for several years. She then became a housewife and had farmed with her husband outside of Andrew for 31 years retiring to Bellevue in 1980. Matie was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew. She loved fishing golfing traveling and volunteering. She had been presented with the Governor's Volunteer Award for her 50 years of volunteer service 32 of which she spent volunteering at Briggs Manor in Andrew Iowa.
HER FAMILY....Matie is survived by: sisters- LaVonne (Glenn) Miller of Maquoketa IA & Wilma Lasack of Oxford Junction IA; & several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband's a brother- Peter & 2 sisters- Elsie & Laura.
HER FAREWELL....A celebration of Matie's life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday June 52008.0 from Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew Iowa. Burial will be in the Andrew Iowa Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Dubuque Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew or St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellevue Iowa. Envelopes will be available at the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa where Matie's family will receive friends on Wednesday June 42008.0 from 5 to 7 P.M.
