In loving memory of

Carol Ann Yarbrough
October 30, 1942 - February 3, 2020

Carol Ann Hendrix Yarbrough, 77, of Houston, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on February 3, 2020, after a lengthy illness. She was born on October 30, 1942 in Temple, Texas, to Jack Byron Hendrix and Ruby Casselberry Hendrix McDonald.
Carol was a 1960 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio. She attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, where she was an inaugural officer of the Strutter Dance Team. Her love of dance and the Strutter organization was lifelong.
Carol's strong work ethic shined brightly throughout all of the jobs she held during her professional career. Ultimately, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to start her own Health Insurance Brokerage company. She was held in high regard by her colleagues and was a well-respected member of several industry associations. She retired in 2013.
Towards the end of life, Carol struggled with her health but she was a fighter. She lived much longer than expected, maintaining her witty sense of humor and determined spirit until the end. We can all rest easy knowing that her body is restored and she is deeply breathing in the fresh heavenly air.
Survivors include her beloved children, son Marcus Yax and wife Cindy of San Antonio; son Richard Yax and wife Gretchen of Briarcliff; daughter Amy Norris and husband Kevin of Houston; five grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Parker Yax, Benjamin Yax, Spencer Yax, Dillon Norris and Addison Norris. She is also survived by her mother, Ruby Casselberry McDonald and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX on Saturday, February 8th at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, TX. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, Carol's wish is for you to consider a gift to one of these organizations near and dear to her: Barbara Tidwell Scholarship Endowment Fund, c/o Strutters, Texas State University, Attn: Tammy Fife, 601 University Dr., San Marcos, TX 78666 or to Superhero Kids Fund, a local organization to help children battling cancer and their families at https://superherokids.org/
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to her caregiver and friend, Veronica Ramos, her loving and supportive friend, Kay Kooker and her dearest friend of 63 years, Nancy Pennell, who was selflessly by her side in her final days.

"Dear ones, oh my! I had not heard anything from Carol in some time and had wondered what was going on . We have been friends since Ft Sill days, OCS 1967-on. We all became close knit friends during that time of our lives. I will always cherish our friendship with both Carol and Dick. We would met up when in Houston and Austin, catch up and laugh till we were silly!!! We shared many happy and sad events in our lives. She will be missed, what funny fun loving person. I loved her. "I was just chatting with Carol on Messenger, January 27th, about sloths. She had sent me an adorable picture of one. My mother, Shirley Hutzler, LOVED sloths! I told Carol I had a tattoo idea in mind and would send her the final draft. She chuckled at that... Carol and Shirley were dear, dear friends from their insurance and underwriting days. Mom pre-deceased Carol, December of 2018... I miss her terribly... As I told Carol's son, Rich, the solace I get from this, is knowing Mom and Carol are reunited and having a GRAND time together. My deepest sympathies to Carol's family and friends. THRIVE on her memory and grieve, naturally, as you should... Your mother has her angel wings and is watching over you forever and ever more. In God's grip and grace... Mel Hutzler"

"Carol was a dear and cherished friend from way back in 1960-1961, at SWTSTC. There was a group of six of us - we named ourselves The Sexy Six - all first year Strutters - Lana, Loma, Lincy, Carla, Carol and Joanne. We did everything together, had more fun, made memories to last a lifetime, and learned such valuable lessons through being Strutters. Rest In Peace, sweet Carol. I love you, I miss you, and I?ll see you on the other side ?? My deepest condolences to all of Carol?s family, and I know that God is walking with you through your grief and tears ?. May God bless you all . Carla Mills Boardman"
