Marjorie M. Marsyla, age 83, of Sandstone, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at Golden Horizons on Friday, January 31, 2020, with loving family by her side.
Marjorie was born on November 19, 1936 to Thomas and Sylvia Nikko in Cromwell, MN. She attended school in Cromwell, MN. She married Archer Marsyla on October 17, 1953. They moved to Minneapolis, where they made their home until they retired to Sandstone, MN in 2000. Marjorie was employed at Sears Robuck & Company for a period of time until she began her in-home daycare center which she operated until her retirement in 2000.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Archer; her beloved son, Lyle; and Great Grandson, Gabriel Cooper; her parents, Thomas and Sylvia; five sisters, Doris Nikko, Marie Nikko, Darlene Nikko, Evelyn Marsyla and Pearl Walters; five brothers, Donald Nikko, Walter Nikko, Kenneth Nikko, Ralph Nikko and Ronald Nikko.
Marjorie is survived by her children Donna (Sylvester) Thomas of Sandstone, MN, Michael (Roxanne) Marsyla of Minneapolis, MN, Janice (Michael) Marden of Farmington, MN, Brenda (Mark Roberts) of Sandstone, MN; 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; one sister, Delores Cahoon of Duluth, MN; and two brothers, Rudolph Nikko of Proctor, MN and Gordon (Reanetta) Nikko of Carlton, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 339 Division Street, Sandstone, MN, with visitation one hour prior to the service, with Pastor Kim Sturtz officiating. Burial will be at Leonard Cemetery in Kettle River, MN, at a later date.
