In loving memory of
John Richard Seidl

Beloved father, grandfather, brother & uncle

June 27, 1950 - January 28, 2020

John R. Seidl was born in Stanley, Wisconsin, and grew up in Medford. He graduated from UWGB, where he met and married Christine (Knodle) Seidl, with whom he raised their three children in Green Bay.

Over the past six years, John enjoyed being the "live-in" grandpa in Tonka Bay, MN, attending his grandkids' plays, concerts, soccer games and dance performances. He also loved visiting his family in France as often as possible.

He shared his passion for art with his children and grandkids, which culminated in a "Grateful Dad Art Show," October 25, 2019. The event showcased 70 paintings and drawings John created over his lifetime.

John bravely battled ALS in the last 18 months of his life, with a sense of humor and positive mindset. The family is indebted to Health Partners Neuroscience Clinic, Health Partners Hospice and The ALS Assn of MN/SD/ND for their compassionate care and support of John after his ALS diagnosis.

John will be deeply missed by his children: Peter Seidl of Tonka Bay, MN; Sarah (Kim) Affolter of Tonka Bay, MN; and Hannah Seidl (David Barat) of Paris, France; his grandchildren: Christine, Ben, Chloè, Emily and Abby; his siblings: Tom (Rose) Seidl of Sterling Heights, MI; Mark (Judi) Seidl of Wausau, WI; Mary (Ollie) Larsen of Two Rivers, WI; Jim Seidl of Barboursville, VA; and Mick (Jen) Seidl of Portland, OR; Christine (Andrew Waterman) Seidl of Green Bay, WI, mother of their three children; numerous nieces and nephews, and a close circle of friends who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Peter J.Seidl and Marjorie (Farmer) Seidl of Medford, WI.

A celebration of John's life is planned for Thursday, March 12, at 10:00 am at SpringHouse Ministry Center located at 610 W. 28th Street, Minneapolis MN 55408. Welcome at 9:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations in John's memory to The ALS Association of MN/ND/SD.

Tributes

Christine Seidl wrote on Feb 13, 2020:

"John was a romantic, a dreamer which allowed him to live with hope even as he faced many challenges in his life, most recently ALS. His art reflected both his romanticism, mindful manner, and his humor. The familiar objects, people and scenes pictured in his art work showed his appreciation of simplicity and the beauty that he found in everyday objects and daily life. "
