Anna Mae Kacmarynski
October 17, 1933 - February 6, 2020

Funeral Mass for Anna Mae will be 10:30 a.m., on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, Mallard, IA. The family will greet friends from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday at the Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg where there will be a rosary recited at 3:30 p.m.

Anna Mae Kacmarynski was born October 17, 1933 in Wesley, IA the daughter of John and Anna (Dahlhauser) Laubenthal. She attended school at District 4 in Wesley and St. John's High School in Bancroft. She received her associate of arts degree from Iowa Lakes Community College.

On November 26, 1958, Anna Mae married Bernard Kacmarynski at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whittemore, IA and to this union nine children were born.

Anna Mae worked as a telephone operator in Fenton, IA, and she also worked on the farm with Bernard and raised their children. Anna Mae taught CCD for several years, and after raising her children, she went back to school and received her AA degree from ILCC in 1997. She also worked at Horizon's Unlimited in Emmetsburg and at Iowa Lakes Community College for many years.

Anna Mae was so very proud of her children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. She treasured every moment she spent with her family. Anna Mae enjoyed music and gardening; she liked plants of all kinds. An avid reader, she would take the kids to the library once a week when they were growing up. Anna Mae later served on the Emmetsburg Library Board. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mallard and Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg.

On Thursday, February 6, 2020, Anna Mae passed away at Accura Health Care Center in Carroll, Iowa.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: James Kacmarynski of Mallard, IA, Cathy Hanish and her husband, David of Blair, NE, Theresa Pauk and her husband, Bob of Carroll, IA, Margee Morfitt and her husband, Jeff of Port Angeles, WA, Tom Kacmarynski and his wife, Michelle of Prairie City, IA, Bob Kacmarynski and his wife, Deb of Iowa City, IA, Richard Kacmarynski and his wife Mindi of Pella, IA, Phil Kacmarynski and his wife, Pam of Urbandale, IA and Mark Kacmarynski and his wife, Amanda of Waukee, IA; 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and her sister-in-law, Margaret Laubenthal of Bancroft, IA.

Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard Kacmarynski; three brothers: Peter Laubenthal (Charlene), James Harold Laubenthal (Rosella), Louis Laubenthal; and her daughter-in-law, Nancy Kacmarynski.
