I know that Dorothy is probably still laughing about the day I drove she and Donna to lunch in Amana and got us hopelessly lost. Dorothy M. Van Maanen, age 83 passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Mercy One - Newton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 17, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Visitation will take place on Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Dorothy M. The daughter of Glenn and Dawn (Quigley) Daugherty, Dorothy was born on May 13, 1936, in Prairie City, Iowa. She graduated from Prairie City High School. On September 24, 1960, she was united in marriage to William Dale Van Maanen in Prairie City. She was a member of the Vandalia Church of Christ. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting and walking.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Dale; a sister, Melda (Marvin) Ingle; her uncle, Walter Daugherty and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents a sister, Helen Wilson and a brother, Clifford Duckstein.
