In loving memory of

Richard Lee Shelby
February 8, 1951 - February 8, 2020

Richard Lee Shelby "Rick" age 69 of Andover, Minnesota passed away after a long battle with cancer at his home with his wife (Sue Shelby) at his side, on February 8th, 2020 (his birthday).

Rick is survived by his wife, Sue of 35 years; sons, Ron (Lori) and Nic; sisters, Joanne and Jackie (Greg); brother, Jim (Vicky); sister-in-law, Shawno; grandchildren, Zach,, Sam and Max; along with many other nieces and nephews that also loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Beverly; and brother Craig.

Rick will be remembered for his boisterous laugh, over-the-top generosity, tireless work ethic and laid-back friendly demeanor. Rick was a skilled carpenter and drywall contractor for over 40 years and was known for his grizzly type strength and quality work. Rick was also a very gifted artist that would often draw, wood burn pictures and build numerous gifts for his friends and family. Richard was always the first person to volunteer to help his family and friends with any type of construction project, even if at the sacrifice of his own personal time and money. Rick loved the outdoors including fishing, hunting and just being one with nature. Thankfully, Rick was able to enjoy one last deer hunting season before his disease took over his quality of life. Some would say Rick was a modern-day Grizzly Adams, and his family & friends all loved him for it.

A special thank you to the Princeton Fairview Care & Hospice care takers for all their support and the comfort they provided Sue and Rick in the final weeks. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Gaertner whom did everything in his power to extend Rick's quality of life.

Rick's Celebration of Life will be held on September 7th, 2020, at their residence 13775 Raven Street NW, Andover, MN 55304 from 12 - 4 pm. Friends and family are welcome to come celebrate the memories of Rick Shelby.

"All the times I would show up (unannounced) after fishing, there would be Rick saying Hey, want a beer? Sue Mary's here. I had lots of fun and will always remember those times. You will be missed Rick. Behave a little in heaven."
