Gerald "Hot Rod" Earnest Kain
December 29, 1948 - February 19, 2020

Gerald Earnest "Hot Rod" Kain, age 71 of Prairie City, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at his home. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Prairie City Church of the Brethren. The family will greet friends following the service with a time of food and fellowship at the Southside in Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Percy - Pleasant Hill School House and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The son of Cloman and Marcella (Kingery) Kain, Hot Rod was born on December 29, 1948 in Runnells, Iowa. He graduated from Southeast Polk High School. On October 21, 2003 he was united in marriage to Mary (Rude) Erickson in Branson, Missouri with friends Bill and Mary Cole. Hot Rod drove truck through the years, most recently hauling grain for Cornerstone Farms. He lived in the Prairie City - Runnells area his entire life.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Mary; mother, Marcella; two daughters, Jodi Rae (Jon) Breheny and Jami Sue (Jason) Uitermarkt; six grandchildren, Allison and Alexa Winslow, Gracie, Grant, Gretchen, and Graeden Uitermarkt; his siblings, Aaron (Sharon) Kain, and Roger (Barbie) Kain and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Hot Rod in death was his father; two brothers, Darrell (His Twin) and Jim; his grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
