"Hey Scott, Just saw your post. Thanks man. I hope life has been good to you brother."
Dr. Edward Reese, age 87, went to his heavenly home on July 4, 2015 with his family ever at his side. Born May 7, 1928, and born again on March 31, 1941, Edward was a consummate husband, father, minister, musician, missionary, and friend. He graduated Union High School in 1946, attended Moody Bible Institute from 1946- 1950, and then became ordained October 8, 1950. During his time at Moody, he directed Senn High School Hi C Bible Club, was the guard on the championship basketball team, acted as sports editor of The Moody Student, and began work on his two life-time publications, The Reese Chronological Bible and a comprehensive all-inclusive Reese Chronological Encyclopedia of Christian Biographies. He incorporated his accordion and song-leading with his ministry so well. After graduation, he organized city-wide high school Bible Clubs with Youth for Christ, travelled to Japan and was directly involved with 453 meetings there, resulting in over 19,600 souls deciding to follow Jesus. He married his helpmate and love of his life, Margaret Babcock, in November, 1953, and began a long list of accomplishments, both professional and personal. He pastored churches and preached in too many states to mention, as well as abroad. He finished up his career as a professor at Crown College here in Tennessee, where he was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church in Powell. Outside of his work, Edward was a disciplined, self-driven, creative and devoted Christian who also enjoyed sports and time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Anna Reese, and brother, Melvin Reese. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 61 years, Margaret Reese; sons, Wesley Scott Reese and wife Lisa, Lane Edward Reese and wife Marlina, Phillip Kent Reese and wife Sharon; daughters, Rebecca Lynn Porter and husband Tom, Donna Jean Twilla and husband, Jeff; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and other extended family he cherished.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 11th from 10am-12pm at Temple Baptist Church in Powell, Tennessee. The Funeral Service will begin at 12 pm, with the Pastor Clarence Sexton officiating. A Graveside Service will be held at Memory Lane Memorial Park in Crown Point, Indiana on Tuesday, July 14th at 10 am, with entombment to follow. Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the precious Reese family, and invites you to view and sign their online guestbook below.

"It was a great privilege to know Ed Reese personally. We became good friends during our 3 years here at Crown College. I was challenged by his commitment to the Lord and his drive to serve His master, even through the last battle with leukemia. He was greatly loved by the student body. May the Lord raise up a cadre to follow in his footsteps."
"I had the privilege of meeting Ed when we both served on the Moody Alumni Board together a few years ago. His sharp clear thinking was evident from the first time I met him. We had many wonderful personal conversations together and his passion for serving Christ was an inspiration to all who knew him. Ed was a great inspiration to me and I miss him and look forward to that glorious day when we are together again in the presence of our Lord. -Dave Gallagher, Phoenix, Arizona"
"Twillas-- we love you. While we know all too well the heaviness associated with having to say goodbye to a loved one, we also know the victory obtained, by your dad, when he transitioned from the here and now to the every present and glory of God. May his legacy of service and commitment to love others for the cause of Christ be a treasured gift! While I did not know him personally, I knew him through you Donna Jean... Your dirve and love for sharing the gospel is a direct link to his love and passion for teaching. I know how much you loved your daddy and how much you will miss him, but it is through the hope in Christ you will be able to move on. I pray mercy and love over you and your family. I pray comfort over your mom, your siblings, all the grandkids and great-grandkids. Thank you for sharing your daddy's life with us. Thank you for your strong faith and may God be glorified in your daddy's life. We love you and will be here for ya'll when you get home. Your daddy is HOME! Love ya."

"There are not enough words to express my thankfulness for all of the memories, life lessons, and wisdom gained simply from being around my grandpa. I'll always cherish every memory we shared. Love you and I'll see you again."
"You were a great man Grandpa, and I'm so honored to be in such a righteous man's family. I'll always love you and I'm proud to carry on your name. Love, Reese"
"I love you Grandpa, Thank you for playing Chess with me last Christmas. I will miss you. Love, jesse"
"Brother Reese will be greatly missed. I believe that his life of constantly walking with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is what I'll cherish most. He showed a true lifetime picture of holiness and faith. It seemed that when he was giving of himself to others, that those kind acts were very natural for him. He didn't think twice about answering the questions of the most novice Christian, to the most learned. He had a humbleness about him that flowed out as though it was something that was a part of him. I still remember around 1981 when he and Sister Reese opened their home so that my father had a place to stay during Pastors' School. My father felt more than welcome staying there and talking with Brother Reese about his Chronological Bible too. I pray that God will be with his family and friends in a very special way during this difficult time. I know that the Angels of Heaven must be rejoicing to now have him in their midst, and of course he'll probably be teaching them about The Biographies of Great Men. May each of you be truly blessed all of the days of your lives. Best Regards."
"One of my favorite teachers at HAC, always faithful."
"Thinking of your family during these difficult days. (I was a student at Crown College... I always enjoyed eating lunch with Dr. Reese & sharing with him my family background.)"
"We will greatly miss our friend and brother in Christ. He leaves behind a great legacy of his great works that he published. May the Lord give peace and comfort to all the family members. Ed fought a good figjht and kept the faith to the very end."
"I know Len and Glad were glad to welcome him home. Our prayer are with Margaret and the family. Bob and Bev"
"We never met face to face but we were introduced to one another from Scott via postal mail. I have read Dr. Reeses words over and over. He life has been an encouragement to me and I look forward to one day meeting him in Heaven."
"My Christian brother, teacher, inspiration and dear friend will be greatly missed. May his ministry continue through his books and those he has taught over the years."
"I had the pleasure of knowing the Reese family while a student at Hyles-Anderson College from 1979-1982. I remember Dr. Reese as such a pleasant man, with a fabulous, happy spirit. He came to Maine in the fall of 1982, and preached in our church, and played his cordovox. Our people loved him! I am looking forward to seeing him in Heaven. No more illness, sin, or good-byes. Praying for the Reese family at this time. Psalm 116:15"
"Thanks for the Education and Inspiration"
