SHIRLEY RAU HILEMAN passed away at the age of 88 in Knoxville, TN on Friday, February 17, 2017. She was born on April 27, 1928, in Rockford, IL to Dean and Helen Rau who proceeded her in death. She was educated in the Rockford school system and Carthage College where she met her husband, Dr. Donald G. Hileman, former dean of the College of Communications at the University of Tennessee from 1969-1984. He also preceded her in death. She was active in several organizations including Presbyterian Women, Chapter J., P.E.O. Sisterhood, and the University Women's Club where she served on the board several times. She cherished the time spent with grandchildren, family and friends and especially time with her two year old great-grandson, Mason. She loved hiking in the mountains, travel and gourmet cooking. She was a member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church and Chapel Bible Class. She is survived by sons, David Hileman of Knoxville, Mark Hileman and wife Tina Smusz of Catawba, VA, Michael Hileman and wife Cathy of Lenoir City, TN; daughter Kathy Morris of Brentwood, TN; and grandchildren Jenny, Megan and James Morris, Nashville, TN, Jacob Hileman, Davis, California and Emma Hileman, Asheville, NC. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 25 @ 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fountain City Presbyterian Church with Rev. Max Reddick officiating.
