Ruth M. Himes, 97, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at Accura HealthCare of Marshalltown. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown, with Rev. Greg Ellcey officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 2, 2020, at Anderson Funeral Homes. Interment will be in the Iowa River Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Ruth was born October 4, 1922, to Louis B. and Elsie May (Nordyke) Sharp in Ladysmith, WI. She moved from Hayward, WI, to Clemons, IA, at the age of eight years and graduated from Clemons High School. In 1942, Ruth moved from Clemons to Marshalltown. She was employed at the Ankeny Ordance Plant from 1942 to 1945 and was a clerk at Fisher Controls from 1945 to 1979 when she retired. Ruth was united in marriage to David Himes on June 24, 1949, in Waterloo, IA.

Ruth is survived by her stepchildren: Blanche Haynes of LeGrand, IA, Pearl Wagner of Marshalltown, Jean Edens of California, Sharon Woodside of Marshalltown; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant brother, stepson Lauren Himes, siblings Pearl Berends, Mildred Rust, Vivian Wooten, Louis B. Sharp.
