Fairview, Edith M. Suydam, 109, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2020 at Red Oak Estates in Canton.
She was born on September 14, 1910 in Fairview Township to Robert and Cora (Stone) Worrell. They preceded her in death along with her son Leon Suydam, one grandson Coy Suydam, four brothers and three sisters.
She married Gene Suydam on May 21, 1931 at her home in Fairview. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Surviving is her daughter, Cloma (Stephen) Morse of Keller Texas, three grandchildren, Douglas (Melanie) Morse of Muscatine, Iowa, Charisse (William) Byrne of Justin Texas, Wade Suydam of Muscatine, Iowa, six great grandchildren, Andrew, Ashtin, Dane, Drake Preston, Michael and Phillip Morse and five great great grandchildren, Finn, Soleia, Corbin, William and River.
Together with her husband she farmed east of Fairview for 39 years before retiring in 1970 and moving into Fairview.
Edith loved to quilt with the quilters at the Fairview Library until her eyesight failed. She made many beautiful quilts for her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She discovered a talent for painting local natural scenery. She was a member of the Fairview Women's Club, Fulton County Homemakers and the Sunnyside Club.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2020 at 11 am, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton where visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
A burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery.
