A memorial service for Ronald J. Folkerts, 76, of Titonka, will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Ramsey Reformed Church, Titonka. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Oakcrest Funeral Services, Titonka.

Ronald James Folkerts was born on August 17, 1943 in Titonka, the son of Ehno and Elsie (Smidt) Folkerts. He grew up near Titonka and was baptized and confirmed at the Ramsey Reformed Church. He graduated from the Titonka High School in 1961. After his schooling, he began farming with his dad. Ron also ran the Office Lounge in Titonka for 10 years, and later worked at Winnebago Industries for 23 years.

On March 22, 1963, he was united in marriage to Karen Van Hove at Ramsey Reformed Church in Titonka. Together they lived near Titonka with their children.

Ron had an outgoing personality and could always be seen with a smile. He was a fun-loving person that never hesitated or shied away from the enjoyment of making people laugh. Listening to music and spending time farming and gardening were just a few of his favorite activities. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Ron is survived by his wife, Karen of Titonka; children, Jim (Gwen) Folkerts of Van Meter and their children, Michael, Stephen, and Ellie, Randy (Kelli) Folkerts of Des Moines and their children Abigail and Grace; close family friends, Tom (Deb) Schuller of Jackson, MN, and their children, Nolan (Carrie) Schuller, Stacey (David) Westby and their daughter, Sophia; siblings, Ann (Don) Tegtmeyer of Britt; Wanda Douglas of Worthington, MN; sisters-in-law, Janice Folkerts of Titonka, Leona Van Hove of Buffalo Center, Marlene Van Hove of Spirit Lake; brothers-in-law, David (Lynn) Sleper of Columbia, MO, Bob (Judy) Van Hove of Buffalo Center; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary Folkerts and Frank Folkerts; sister, Elaine Sleper; and brothers-in-law, Keith Van Hove, and Carroll Van Hove.
