"Dear Joanne & Family, Ellie e-mailed us about Joe’s passing however we were away the past 10 days in a condo North of Austin. We had a family reunion to celebrate John’s 80th birthday. Had no access to a computer so we were shocked to find the notice on our return today. Please know we feel your pain and send our love and prayers to you and the whole family. We hope all the good memories of your 62 years together will sustain you. God bless you all. Cousin Rita and John"

"To Aunt Joanne, my Cousins, and their families: What to say, other than how deeply sorry I am. My prayers are with all of you at this sad time. I must say that Uncle Joe is quite handsome in a cowboy hat. Happy to see there is a large family support group for all of you. That surely will be helpful. May God Bless all of you. Love Diane"
