His electrical knowledge for model railroads will be missed as will his long, very long refrigerator car trains on the club layout. If you knew George you know of his love for refrigerator railroad cars. RIP my friend."

"Our condolences to the Lopez-Cepero family. George was about a nice a man as a person could hope to know. And his love, support and dedication to Patti was boundless. We always enjoyed our time together when we met up at Special Olympics fundraising functions. Even though I didn\'t know what he was talking about half the time, the light in his eyes when he would talk about his trains said how much enjoyment he found in them. Rest in peace George. God Bless you."

The two of you took on this family no questions asked and took the girls as your godchildren, and he loved them whole heartedly. He was one of the greatest men I will ever know and love. We miss you so much already. Until we see each other again, rest in peace. I know there\'s one awesome guardian angel for my girls up there."

"George will be missed by many, many people. His professional stature is towering. I\'ve been one of his \"colleagues\" for 30 plus years. But I\'ll never forget those \"friends\" moments, when you\'d ask him about his model railroad project, and he\'d light up and take you on his \"journey\", in his uniquely expressive way. Next to you, Patti, that was probably his second biggest passion in life. He\'s left a trail of colleagues, \"students\" and friends that is wide and long. I\'m very blessed to have known him."

"GLC had formed a big part of my world. He had been helping shape ADOT Drainage Design Guidelines and other engineering practices even though he didn\'t work here anymore, because he just loved to do it. In these last years I have been calling him \"my George\", as if he only belonged to me. He was a true role model for me. When asked by his company to evaluate him at the end of a work contract here at ADOT, I simply told them in one sentence - \"George is actually my most admired person in the world\" His simplicity, his smarts and respect for all people irrespective of backgroud were inimmitable. My eyes have truly seen what it means to be a genuine person. I hope everybody takes a bit of character from him. Rest! Rest! Rest! GLC; the world knows you completed your mission."

"I first met George when I joined the Ponderosa North Model RR Club in January 1987, and in short order he became a friend, then a good friend, then one of my best friends. Learned a lot about railroads and model railroading over the years as we shared rides to NMRA Division Meets throughout the state. Also had the privilege of helping him start his layout in Prescott Valley, to say nothing of the expertise he so freely offered on my own layout. Rest in Peace, my friend, and we\'ll meet again on the day I join you on that train up in the sky."

"George was a beloved figure at Northeastern University\'s Gamma Phi Kappa fraternity. After he graduated college and returned from his service in Viet Nam, he came back to Northeastern as a graduate student and lived at our fraternity house for several years. He was a caring alumni presence, a mentor, a conscience and a generally sweet man who helped guide many young undergraduates (including me) through the early 1970s. While others might give you grief if you screwed up, George would help you learn how to make things right without making you feel bad. He was unique, and those of us who were privileged to live in the fraternity house with him will never forget the experience. AGAPE, my brother, and sleep well. David Katz"
