In loving memory of

Laura Shimel-crosby

Laura C. Shimel-Crosby, passed into the next phase of life on Thursday, February 12, 2015. A proud daughter of Lebanese immigrants Joseph Milham Karam and Susie Kiamy, Laura was born in Brooklyn, NY, on September 26, 1925. Moving to Phoenix in 1946, Laura adapted quickly to the warmth of the sun, and raised eight children: Louise Shimel, Bunny Howsmon, Phillip Shimel, Bobbi Faulkner, Richard Shimel, Robert (Rob) Shimel, Suzanne Clark, and Robert D. Shimel. She was Tita to nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were husbands Robert C. Shimel, Arthur M. Crosby, and grandson James R. Shimel. Laura was a special lady with a heart as big as the Grand Canyon, welcoming everyone into her home, stopping to talk to all who needed a kind word, and generous to a fault with those in need. Her sense of humor, her wisdom, and that strong inner sense of self were gifts she shared with all of us. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM, with Funeral to follow at 11:00 AM, on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85020. Burial will be at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W. Northern, Glendale.

"Laura was a great lady. She was friendly and loving and would give you whatever she had if you needed it. She loved ALL of her children and grandchildren. Laura will be missed by many. Know that She will live on through each of you and wanted the best for ALL of you."
