"We met Rita and Bert thru our son and daughter-in-law, Brett & Val Chloupek, who were neighbors of Rita & Bert in north Phoenix. Rita & Bert became part of the family, attending our Peter Piper Pizza get togethers and being 'grandparents' to Val & Brett's two boys. This was a role enjoyed by all. Rita was also a member of the 'Dominos Ladies' who played each week for many years. Rita will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bert and family. John & Carolyn Chloupek"

"Rita and Bert have been a special part of family since our first son was born in 1998. They were our next-door neighbors in Moon Valley until 2001, when we moved to Tucson, and eventually onto Southern California. We had the pleasure of hosting Rita here in California a few weekends ago for our youngest's Confirmation. She was his Godmother, and we were so pleased to share that special celebration with her. I will be in attendance at her services, as well as her Godson, Winston. Sweet blessings to Bert and heartfelt thanks to all those who have been by Bert's side since Rita's hospitalization and beyond."

Ronnie Honey wrote on May 18, 2016:

"My deepest sympathies go out to Bert and the family. I had the privilege of working with Rita at the Court for many years. Her professionalism, competence and strength made her a role model to many. I am grateful to have seen Rita at our retiree lunch last year and that I had the chance again enjoy her hearty laugh and the twinkle in her eyes. She will be missed!"

Ruth Michunovich wrote on May 14, 2016:

"Things I thought you should know about my mother-in-law. I have known her for 32 years and these are pieces of her life that should be remembered and might have been lost to history without them being written down. Rita's maiden name was DeRyckere and she was preceded in passing by her brother Archie DeRyckere (died 2012) and her first husband Daniel Michunovich (died 1974) and their three children, Steve Daniel Michunovich (died 2015), George Daniel Michunovich (died 2014) and Julie Michunovich (died 1997). Rita was employed for decades by the US Court system and retired as the Head Court Clerk and counted many judges and lawyers as her friends. She most fondly remembered Judge Carl Muecke. In 1978 she was a candidate for the title of Arizona Style Maker. She was the president of the Clerks Association of US Courts prior to being Judge Muecke's court clerk. After Dan Michunovich died at the age of 48 and was buried in RedLodge, MT, Rita eventually was introduced by Mary Wallace to Mary's brother, Bert Zambonini who Rita married and adored for 34 years. Rita will be laid to rest in RedLodge, MT along with her son Steve and daughter Julie in due time."
